| C-ATCH Cicely and her handler, Deb Nosse | ||||

From Deb Nosse, trainer and handler of Cicely:
I am a long time owner and trainer of Pembroke corgis. Two years ago my Corgi was diagnosed with an ACL tear, after a year of training we just started trialing. I was heartsick, and also had signed up for the next 2 months of classes at the local kennel club. The instructor, who owns Ciceley, offered her to me for class since she runs just like my Kyra. Ciceley at that point had earned her Excellent Jumpers title in AKC and had legs toward Standard. (and every time I enter an AKC trial I have to go look up the title abbreviations!)
So I took my classes with her and we hit it off. She taught me handling since my newbie skills didn't meet her needs. She'd stop in mid-course and bark insults at me whenever my feet went one way and my hands another. In the beginning I just was thankful to get through a course without getting barked at! Then toward the end of class, I was still missing showing so I asked Megan if I could take Ciceley to CPE trials. We started in 8" veterans, now in 4" regular, and have gone from Level 2 to within reach of our C-ATCH since November '06. She still lives with Megan - I show up for agility runthrus and Megan brings her along. Then I pick her up on Friday afternoons and go to trials. (before the Natl's I had her move in with me to practice more!) I've also shown her in a few AKC trials, mostly ones that our club hosts. This picture shows what Ciceley does after each run - tries to get me to open my mouth so she can get her nose in it! She's a hoot. Ciceley and Deb received Ciceley's C-ATCH August 9th 2008. |
